Project Intro
본 시리즈는 적층된 형태가 만들어내는 그림자의 층위를 다양한 소재의 구조적 요소로 해석하고, 빛과 매스의 상호작용으로 형성되는 미세한 입체감을 가구 스케일로 전환한 총 4가지 디자인 프로젝트로 구성됩니다. 형태 자체의 물성과 더불어, 빛에 의해 드러나는 경계와 음영을 하나의 조형 언어로 삼아 가구 디자인으로 확장하고자 하였습니다.
This series consists of four design projects that reinterpret the layered shadows created by stratified forms through structural elements in diverse materials, translating the subtle sense of volume formed by the interaction of light and mass into the scale of furniture. Beyond the materiality of the forms themselves, the series adopts the boundaries and shadows revealed by light as a unified formal language, extending them into furniture design.
Design Process
네 가지 디자인은 공통된 조형 언어를 바탕으로 하여, 각 조형의 성격과 사용 맥락에 따라 심미적 가치 또는 기능적 가치에 중점을 두고 서로 다른 방향으로 전개되었습니다. 이를 통해 동일한 조형 개념이 가구의 역할과 해석 방식에 따라 어떻게 변주될 수 있는지를 탐구합니다.
All four designs are based on a shared formal language, yet each is developed in a different direction depending on its character and context of use, with an emphasis on either aesthetic or functional value. Through this approach, the series explores how a single formal concept can be reinterpreted and transformed according to the role and interpretation of furniture.

목재로 제작된 스툴과 조명은 심미적 가치에 초점을 맞춘 작품으로, Oblique Boundary가 만들어내는 그림자 구조와 비스듬한 경계에 집중하여 디자인되었습니다. 해당 조형은 빛의 각도와 시점에 따라 다양한 표정을 드러내며, 가구의 기능을 넘어 공간 속 오브제적인 요소로 작용하도록 구성되었습니다.
The stool and lighting pieces crafted from wood focus on aesthetic value, exploring the shadow structures and oblique boundaries formed by the Oblique Boundary. The form reveals varying expressions depending on the angle of light and viewpoint, allowing the pieces to function not only as furniture but also as object-like elements within the space.

시리즈 4 [양방향 캐비넷 디자인] / 철에 분체도장
원형과 사각형 형태의 캐비넷은 보다 산업적인 관점에서 동일한 조형을 분석한 작품으로, Oblique Boundary가 가구 내부에서 단순히 조형적 요소로만 존재하지 않고 수납과 장식의 기능을 수행하도록 하였습니다. 구조적 안정성과 제작 효율을 고려하여, 두 작품 모두 양산이 가능한 형태와 구조를 기반으로 디자인되었습니다.

Series 4 [Two way Cabinet Design] / Powder coated steel
The round and rectangular cabinets analyze the same form from a more industrial perspective, allowing the Oblique Boundary to function not merely as a formal element but as a structural component that supports storage and display within the furniture. Considering structural stability and production efficiency, both designs are developed with forms and structures suitable for mass production.
