Memory Veil은 디지털 환경에 축적되는 과도한 데이터의 문제를 다루는 근미래 OS 제안 프로젝트입니다. 우리는 무한히 저장되는 데이터 속에서 오히려 기억을 잃어갑니다. 중요도와 맥락에 따라 기억을 선택하고 망각을 통해 인지 효율을 높이는 뇌의 구조를 모방하여, 디지털 기억 역시 스스로 정리되고 재편될 수 있는 방식을 연구합니다.
Memory Veil is a speculative near-future OS project that addresses the problem of excessive data accumulation in digital environments. Within systems that store information endlessly, we paradoxically begin to lose our memories. By modeling the structure of the human brain—one that selects memories based on importance and context, and enhances cognitive efficiency through forgetting—this project explores how digital memory can likewise organize and restructure itself.
본 프로젝트에서 ‘디지털 망각’은 삭제가 아닌, 가시성과 우선순위를 조정하는 과정으로 정의됩니다. iOS 30을 배경으로 한 AI 어시스턴트 VEIL은 병합과 재구성, 그룹화라는 세 가지 커뮤니케이션을 활용하여 디지털 기억을 정리하며, 이는 Blend, Extraction, Metaball이라는 시각적 언어로 구현됩니다.
Memory Veil은 인간의 기억 구조를 닮은 새로운 디지털 기억 방식을 인터페이스 차원으로 확장하고자 하는 시도를 담고 있습니다.
In this project, “digital forgetting” is defined not as deletion, but as a process of adjusting visibility and priority. Set in the context of iOS 30, the AI assistant VEIL organizes digital memory through three modes of communication: merging, reconstruction, and clustering. These processes are visualized through the design languages of Blend, Extraction, and Metaball.
Memory Veil presents an attempt to extend a digital memory system modeled after human cognitive structures into the realm of interface design.
