레우코테아Leucothea는 휴양 목적으로 만들어진 최초의 인공 행성입니다. 그리스 신화에서 반인반신으로 태어나 사후에 신이 된, 바다와 하얀 물보라의 여신의 이름에서 영감을 받은 행성은 지구의 바다를 모티프로 모든 것이 인공적으로 디자인된 공간입니다. 행성 자체 뿐만이 아니라 행성을 이루는 모든 것들, 자연물처럼 보이는 생물들까지 모두 철저하게 통제되어 제작된 것입니다.
Leucothea is the first artificial planet created for the purpose of retreat. Inspired by Leucothea, the sea goddess of white spray from Greek mythology—born half human and half divine, and deified after death—the planet is a fully artificial environment modeled after Earth’s oceans. Not only the planet itself, but everything that composes it, including creatures that appear natural, has been meticulously designed and strictly controlled.
행성은 공전주기와 자전주기가 같아 항상 어두운 공간과 항상 빛을 받게 되는 공간이 구별되며, 행성의 축소판을 담은 3D 미디어 영상에서 행성의 다양한 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.
The planet has identical orbital and rotational periods, resulting in distinct regions that remain in perpetual darkness and others that are constantly exposed to light. Through a 3D media video presenting a scaled-down model of the planet, viewers can observe its various states and environments.
광원의 정반대를 바라보는 Section A : Land에서는 지구의 밤처럼 항상 어두운 상태를 볼 수 있습니다. 바닥은 모래로 이루어져 있으며 여행객들의 숙소가 되는 거대한 산호들이 밀집해있습니다. 지구의 바다에서 산호가 물고기들의 보금자리가 돼주듯이, 레우코테아에서도 산호는 여행객들이 지내는 공간을 형성합니다.
In Section A: Land, which faces directly away from the light source, the environment remains in a constant state of darkness, reminiscent of night on Earth. The ground is composed of sand, and clusters of massive coral structures serve as accommodations for travelers. Just as coral reefs in Earth’s oceans provide shelter for fish, in Leucothea, coral forms the spaces where visitors reside.
Section B : Beach에서는 광원의 빛이 스쳐지나가 항상 일출 혹은 일몰의 풍경이 보입니다. 모래 바닥과 투명한 바닥을 거의 균등한 비율로 볼 수 있으며, 움직이는 인공 생물이 조금씩 등장하기 시작합니다. 그 중 대표적인 해파리는 하늘에서 천천히 헤엄치며, 레우코테아의 진주를 흡입하고 이물질로 배출합니다. 이 이물질은 행성 주변을 맴도는 고리를 형성하게 됩니다.
In Section B: Beach, light from the source grazes the surface, creating a perpetual scene of sunrise or sunset. Sand and transparent ground appear in nearly equal proportion, and moving artificial creatures begin to emerge gradually. Among them, the most representative are jellyfish that drift slowly through the sky, absorbing Leucothea’s pearls and expelling them as foreign matter. This expelled material goes on to form a ring that orbits around the planet.
Section C : Ocean은 항상 광원을 바라보고 있는 구역으로, 활기찬 생명력을 느낄 수 있는 공간입니다. 지구의 해수면을 연상시키는 투명한 바닥이 대부분의 지면을 이루고 있습니다. 산호 뒤에 가려진 바다 거북 정거장은 여행객들의 공용 이동 수단으로, 지면 아래의 통로로 연결되어 있습니다. 오른쪽에 보이는 조개는 체내로 들어온 이물질들로 진주를 합성하는 역할을 합니다.
Section C: Ocean constantly faces the light source and is a space filled with a sense of vibrant vitality. Most of the ground consists of a transparent surface reminiscent of Earth’s sea level. Hidden behind the coral, the sea turtle station serves as a shared means of transportation for travelers and is connected through passages beneath the ground. The shell visible on the right synthesizes pearls from foreign substances that enter its body.
