Layerd Chair

Mario Bellini의 Cab Chair에서 영감 받은 이 의자는 철제 프레임으로 구성되어 있다. 최소화된 프레임 위에서 패브릭은 단순한 외피가 아니라, 봉제 라인을 따라 파이프에 힘을 전달하며 하중을 지지하는 구조적 요소로 기능한다. 두 개의 패브릭 피스는 패턴과 재봉을 통해 프레임과 긴밀히 결합하며, 그 과정에서 소재 특유의 주름, 당김, 마모가 자연스럽게 드러난다. 이러한 물리적 변화들을 통해 사용자의 흔적을 기록하며 가구에 감정적 내구성과 서사성을 부여하고자 한다. 본 작업은 ‘입는 개념’와 ‘앉는 개념’를 겹쳐 바라봄으로써, 패브릭을 통한 구조 형성과 적층되는 사용자 경험 사이의 관계를 확장하고자 한다.

This chair, inspired by Mario Bellini’s Cab Chair, is constructed around a steel frame.

On the minimized frame, the fabric functions not as a mere outer covering but as a structural element that transfers force to the pipes along its stitched seams, actively supporting the load. Two fabric pieces are closely integrated with the frame through pattern-making and sewing, during which material-specific qualities—such as wrinkles, tension, and wear—naturally emerge. Through these physical changes, the chair records traces of the user, imbuing the furniture with emotional durability and narrative depth.

By overlaying the concepts of “wearing” and “sitting,” this work seeks to expand the relationship between fabric-based structural formation and the accumulation of user experience over time.
